  If you’re ready to throw away your foaming facial cleanser because it leaves your skin dry and tight every time you wash your face, then we’ve got the product for you: an hemp oil facial cleanser formulated with non-comedogenic hemp seed oil and anti-inflammatory cannabis roots. It works with the natural properties of your skin, never stripping away your natural oils.
  
  This gentle cleanser is multi-purpose. First, use it as an oil to remove makeup, sunscreen and pollution. Then massage deeply into your pores for skin that is clear, fresh and hydrated.

• What are the benefits of the hydrating face wash with hemp seed oil to cleanse your skin?

  Clear acne and shrink pores
  Cannabis sativa seed oil, also known as hemp seed oil, is rich in linoleic acid. Linoleic acid benefits acne prone skin by thinning the skin's sebum so that it washes away rather than causing clogged pores. Overtime, pores decongest which improves skin texture overall.
  
  Work with your skin (not against it!)
  Many facial cleansers use surfactants to strip away the oils that exist naturally on your skin. These oils play an important role in creating a healthy barrier - to keep moisture in and irritants out. When we over wash our face or use harsh products, we damage this skin barrier which leads to worse problems like chronic dry skin, inflammation and more.
  
  Our oil cleanser works with these natural oils on your skin rather than against them. Oil cleansing works on the premise that "like dissolves like". Since hemp seed oil is very similar to our skin's oil, it's the perfect ingredient for oil cleansing. The gentle cleansing "good" oils travel deep into your pores to dissolve the "bad" oils like dirt and sebum - pushing them to the surface.
  
  Clean without compromise
  The result of the above process is skin that is thoroughly cleaned, and also moisturized. We all know that feeling of washing our face only to have it feel dry, tight and even itchy. That's what happens when we strip away the natural oils. With empyri's oil cleanser, your skin will feel soft, supple and hydrated (which means healthy!) after every wash.

• Does it work for all skin types?

  Sensitive skin type
  Even if you have very sensitive skin, this facial cleanser is for you. To start, it contains zero synthetic fragrances - a major culprit of skin irritation. We've also added chamomile flower extract with natural skin soothing properties. Finally, cannabis roots are a real sensitive skin hero in this product. Our roots have a high concentration of the compound friedelin which has anti-inflammatory properties. If your sensitivity presents as redness, puffiness or general irritation, anti-inflammatory cannabis roots will help.
  
  Dry skin type
  Most of us think about dry skin when choosing oils, serums and creams. But you really should be thinking about your dry skin when you choose a cleanser too. Keeping skin hydrated starts with how we wash our face. Like we mentioned above, you never want to strip your skin completely of its natural oils because their job is to keep moisture locked in. Our blend of oils including hemp, coconut, avocado and meadowfoam are very compatible with the skin, achieving a deep clean and a moisturized, supple complexion.
  
  Acne prone skin
  Oils for the acne prone or oily skin type may seem counterintuitive. But here's the science: when we over-wash our skin and it becomes dry/tight, our skin's natural response is to produce more oil to compensate. That excess oil can build up and clog pores causing acne. Our oil cleanser uses hemp seed oil to balance and regulate your skin's oil production to break this cycle. Not only does skin remain hydrated, but hemp seed oil is full of linoleic acid which thins our sebum so that it no longer clogs pores. Acne prone skin may break out at first use, but with consistency a clear complexion is on its way!
  
  Combination skin
  We know the fear with combination skin is to have too much of one thing in all the wrong places. Our facial cleanser with hemp seed oil is gentle, balancing and hydrating - making it suitable for combination skin that may be dry in some places and oily in others.

• What are the key ingredients?

  The hero of this cleanser is hemp oil! Full of essential fatty acids, hemp oil delivers hydration and strengthens the skin's moisture barrier. But it doesn't stop there; there's another ingredient from the cannabis plant - the roots! Cannabis roots are full of anti-inflammatory friedelin, perfect for soothing stressed out skin at the end of a long day.
  
  In the name of transparency, here's the rest of the key ingredients you'll find on the cleanser label.

  • Avocado Oil - non-comedogenic i.e. does not clog pores; balances oily skin; contains gadoleic acid which has high absorption power and moisturizes without being greasy
  • Meadowfoam Seed Oil - biocompatible with the skin for effective "like dissolves like" process; travels deep into pores to push sebum to the surface
  • Chamomile Flower Oil - skin soothing; safe for use on sensitive skin; treats acne scars; evens skin tone
  • Rosemary Leaf Oil - anti-aging; antioxidant properties; rosmarinic acid has calming effect on the skin

• Our recommended morning cleansing method:

  Here's two recommendations for morning cleansing and how to choose the method that is best for you.
  
  Method 1: Water Only
  Your face does not need a deep clean in the morning. Since you wash it before bed, it's spent the night rejuvenating and only needs a quick refresh to start the day. You can wash your face in the morning with just water.

  • Splash water directly on your face; or
  • Soak a clean wash cloth with water and gently wipe over face

  
  Then gently pat dry with a clean washcloth. Or if your next step is to use a waterless product, leave skin damp.
  
  Method 2: Oil Cleanse Your second option for morning cleansing is to use your oil cleanser.

  • Dampen your face with lukewarm water
  • Pump 3-5 pumps of oil cleanser onto fingertips and distribute evenly between both hands
  • Gently massage over your face and neck
  • Rinse with water, directly or on a dampened washcloth

  
  Whichever method you choose, always use a CLEAN washcloth. That means ensuring your cloth is hung up properly so it dries well between each use and changing our frequently. Check out our hemp washcloth if you don’t have one!

• Our recommended evening cleansing method:

  The evening is when oil cleansing truly works its magic. It will melt everything - and I mean everything off your face, while still being gentle on your skin.

  • Dampen your face with water
  • Apply 5-8 pumps of oil cleanser to hands and gently massage over face. Give extra attention to eye area if you're wearing eye makeup.
  • Wipe face with a warm wet washcloth.
  • Pat dry

  
  Regardless of your skin type, always use warm water. Both too hot and too cold can cause skin issues by damaging the moisture barrier.

• Is this product safe to use hemp face wash every day?

  Yes. It is safe to use this cleanser every day - either once or twice. It's best in the evening, when you need to remove makeup, sunscreen, the build up the day's pollution, kids' sticky fingerprints... you get the idea. We all know the importance of washing our face before bed, and this is the perfect product for that nighttime ritual. It simplifies your routine by removing the need for an additional product, a makeup remover. And it cleanses deeply so that your skin is prepped for evening treatments, active ingredients and its natural process of repair.
  
  If you feel called to wash your face in the morning and evening, then it's safe to use this cleanser in the AM too. Our gentle formula ensures you will never disrupt your natural moisture barrier or cause skin irritation by "over washing". We recommend using less of the product in the morning, 3 to 5 pumps will do, assuming you took off your make up the night before!

• Do I need to moisturize my skin afterwards?

  The short answer, yes. The key to healthy skin is hydration. And you can moisturize with hemp in many ways.
  
  The long answer is, still yes. But one of the benefits of this facial cleanser is that it doesn't leave your skin feeling like it needs moisture. Unlike foaming washes that strip the skin of its natural oils, our cleansing oil leaves skin clean and moisturized. So while you do need to support your skin health with a moisturizer that will keep your skin barrier strong, you won't feel like you're trying to replenish what's been lost.

• Can I use this oil cleanser on other parts of my body?

  Absolutely! Founder Jen uses it on ankles and elbows when they get covered in grease while mountain biking. We're not kidding when we say it melts of everything. But if you're thinking more regular use, we recommend cleansing your neck and chest with this product too. The skin on our necks have less sebaceous (oil) glands than the rest of our body. This makes our neck prone to being dry, crepey and long-term leads to wrinkles and sagging. Washing your neck and chest with a hydrating oil cleanser like empyri's will not only ensure the area is clean from makeup and sunscreen, but also give it an extra dose of nourishment and hydration that it desperately needs. • What makes this a "clean beauty" product?

  The first ingredient in most face cleansers on the market is water. Go check your face wash – is the first ingredient water? We removed the water from our cleanser to cut the need for potentially harmful preservatives and emulsifiers. One of the things empyri customers love most about our hemp face wash is its smell. Unfortunately, many skincare products use fragrance or parfum. These are often made from dozens of chemicals with little data to support their safety. Instead, empyri uses careful combinations of essential oils like neroli oil. Neroli has mood soothing effects as well as antimicrobial and antioxidant properties. It’s a clean scent swap that has skin benefits too!
