empyri was founded on three main principles, the first of which is Clean Beauty.
We know that there is no single definition of clean beauty, in part because the industry is precariously regulated around the globe. But simply put, clean beauty is a movement to eliminate ingredients that are known to be harmful to human health from all personal care products, including makeup and skincare.
We believe that when given all the facts, consumers can decide for themselves if brands meet their need for clean, so our promise is full transparency. Today we want to share with you the main pillars of empryi’s ethos on clean beauty:
Research & Development:
empryi looks to leaders in the clean beauty space for resources and reference points. We use the Environmental Working Group’s Skin Deep® database to ensure each and every ingredient in our products has a zero to very low score for risk of cancer, developmental & reproductive toxicity and allergies & immunotoxicity. And we use David Suzuki Foundation’s “Dirty Dozen” to ensure our products will never include any of the harmful chemicals identified in this research.
Clean doesn’t have to Compromise
empyri’s clean beauty products will not compromise on quality or efficacy. We’re going back to the roots of Traditional Chinese Medicine to soothe stressed out skin with super high concentrations of anti-inflammatory active’s like friedelin. And we’re using today’s science, technology and clinical research to bring you innovative ingredients like our hydrolyzed seed extract for results without the risk.
Nourishment through Nature:
empyri strives to bring you as close to the plant as possible. Our 3-step ritual is formulated with 100% naturally-derived ingredients, and where synthetic ingredients are unavoidable in future products, we’ll always choose the safest option. For example, cream-based products must contain water and therefore must contain a preservative. Where other brands might choose parabens, empyri chooses potassium sorbate, considered to be a safe and effective alternative with an Environmental Working Group score of only 2.
Clean means Green
Although “clean beauty” and “green beauty” are not necessarily the same thing, for us, they go hand-in-hand. empyri cares for your health, which is why our products will never contain harmful chemical ingredients, and we care for the earth, so our products are vegan, cruelty-free, sourced ethically and sustainably.
Just like the people and the earth we care for, empyri’s ethos on clean beauty is living; it will evolve as we do, overtime and when new evidence-based science and research becomes available.
